My thanks to the University of East London for allowing these pages to be made available on their server.
Railways in general and the UK in particular, with its rich and varied railway history, contains many confusing terms, names and abbreviations, this glossary will hopefully clarify some of them for you.
The glossary currently has 958 entries, but don't let that stop you suggesting additional entries. Please email any suggestions to M.Dewell@uel.ac.uk.
Please select index letter required.
This glossary is intended to be accessed via FRAMES. If your browser does not
support them, then you will have to return to this page each time you want to
change sections. Alternatively you can simply type the new URL by changing the
current URL to include the index letter required, it should be fairly obvious.
